The CSCI rating of the agency is now 'Good'. This will shortly be noted on the csci.gov.uk web site. In a year and a half, with new managers and dedicated staff, the agency has recovered from a poor standard to this stage. Virtually every aspect of the service has radically improved. The achievement is more remarkable given the greatly increasing challenges now faced by the care sector. The Company wishes to thank all the staff and, in particular, our Registered Manager for this remarkable development.

GENERAL NEWS: July 21st 2008

1. Hours have risen by nearly 30% since the trough earlier this year. Every month now sees a rise in hours as our reputation continues to spread with carers and clients coming to us by word of mouth.

2. Staff numbers continue to rise with wide availability carers becoming the rule and part time staff now becoming the exception. The workforce is developing into a professional, dedicated team. It combines the best of long serving staff, wide availability and part time, with the focus of the newcomers who dedicate their entire working time to caring service.

3. The agency has just been inspected by csci.gov.uk (The Commission for Social Care Inspection) and the result is expected shortly. The inspector did not say much, only, that we had improved since our last inspection a year ago.

4. The office has been re-arranged to make the operation more efficient. All the operating staff are now on the first floor with the training and accounts on the ground floor. This has greatly improved communication and has combined the rotas, the engine of the agency, with the Registered Manager and care staff who are key people when it comes to quality of service.

5. Our service to all clients continues to improve with better handling of invoicing, queries and with greater emphasis on reliability. A middle range of caring staff is being developed who can do spot checks, supervisions, some reviews and more, to ensure better quality and continuity of service. Training remains a priority. Founded in 1996, Kaleidoscope Care has grown to provide service to many people across North Herefordshire and South Shropshire. Our business is split about 40% local authority and publicly financed, and 60% self funding, private clients.

A growing presence serving self-financed homecare has been a major feature of recent growth and we now have a leading regional expertise in serving privately financed service users. Our service includes issuing calendars to clients

informing them of the carers scheduled to visit the following week. This reflects the levels of service that have help create our mixed client base, and of course, the calendars benefit all clients, regardless of how they are funded.

Following the recent management buyout, added vigour has started to develop the business and improve communications. Special attention is being paid to rapid response to enquiries, correspondence and requests for information. In addition, significant capital expenditure has introduced modern, but tried and tested computer technology. This has removed much of the paperwork, but we still depend on the skill, judgment and dedication of all our staff to ensure the quality of service.

We believe in a simple useful and practical service. This policy extends throughout the organisation dictating we invest in the areas which will enhance the quality of our service. Our first priority is to operate correctly and efficiently for our clients. This simple web site is an example of our approach.
