How it works
The way carers are allocated their work; how we decide who
comes to your home.

Where we send messages to our carers
A rota system is established to allocate work to carers so they can visit all
our clients.
Currently 1,450 visits by 52 carers are made each week. This is a complex task.
Although a rota seems a simple thing to
arrange, the intervention of carer absences through sickness and unforeseeable
delays creates daily challenges to ensure all calls are covered. In addition,
new care assignments, changing or the ending of care requirements creates the
need to continually reorganise carer work schedules.
When several carers are unwell at the same time, the work of a rota organiser is
far from simple, involving persuasion, persistent attention and a strong will to
make sure every person receiving care is properly attended to. In extreme
cases, on-call staff who have caring experience, get into their cars and go out
to make visits themselves.
Experience teaches that not only is it desirable for clients to retain the same
carers whenever possible, but this also ensures a happier workforce.
Sometimes circumstances demand we make exceptional efforts to make sure visits
are made as our clients expect and need.
