Our carers and support staff have brought independence and a better life to
hundreds of clients. We have seen people live happier lives and, some, we
have assisted so that they no longer need help. The aim of the service is
to do this so well, that we are never short of this worthwhile and rewarding
work.
We are always searching for dedicated, professional carers for North
Herefordshire and / or S Shropshire. You will need to be flexible but we
will, in return, work to keep you fully employed for the time you say you are
available. With current demand, we welcome carers who can work
over thirty hours a week, but there are significant openings for part-time working. If you
feel we might be able to offer a rewarding opportunity, please e-mail us at
lorna@kalcare.co.uk You can
ring us on 01568 611160 for more information
You can fill in the form here and either e-mail it back to us, or send it to our offices at Kaleidoscope Care, 1 Lion Court, Leominster, Herefordshire HR6 8LS
This demanding but rewarding occupation offers opportunities for training and
development. They are included as part of carers' employment and we are
keen to see carers attend courses. They include:

Moving and Handling
The Safe Handling of Medicines
Fire Safety
Health and Safety
Hygiene for Carers
Food Hygiene
Infection Control
First Aid
Other specialist courses include:
Dementia Care, Challenging Behaviour, Nutrition,
In addition, we run an approved NVQ2 training scheme. We must ensure compliance with the legal requirement for over 50% Qualified NVQ 2 staff. Every other person must be in training for NVQ 2. Several of our carers have already reached NVQ 3 standards and we arrange NVQ3 training for selected staff members. Two members of staff are studying for The Registered Managers Award.
We run a common induction course for all new carers covering the key
areas and practices essential before anyone can commence work. In
addition, thorough training is given in the use of company paperwork and
specific company operating methods. Following this, new carers are sent
out on assignments with existing experienced carers to observe and learn about
what has to be done, and equally importantly, to get to know the people we are
caring for. In addition, the company provides an excellent handbook.
This method is designed to prepare new carers for their work, arming them
with knowledge, removing uncertainty and preparing them to be able to build
experience and increase their professionalism. The opportunity to get to
know those they will care for in advance removes the stress of meeting strangers
and builds trust in advance. Equally, the same
applies to our clients, so
they will not be faced with an unknown carer, new to the company and, perhaps,
even new to caring. All this goes towards a higher quality of
service.
We are very keen to develop our staff and take a full part in the trend
towards an effective, well managed Domiciliary Care Sector
